TUM: AI Rules for Your Thesis
It depends on your chair. We found no TUM-wide rule on AI in theses. At the School of Computation, Information and Technology, a framework agreement is used to settle in advance, chair by chair, which AI uses are allowed, which must be labelled and which are forbidden. Ask your chair before you start writing.
What the official text says
These are the university's own words, quoted as published. Where the original is French, the third column paraphrases it; it is not a translation.
| Source | Official wording (verbatim) | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| At CIT, you and your chair agree the AI rules before you write. |
What you have to do
Ask your supervisor before you start writing and keep a short log of every AI use (tool, date, task, what you kept). The declaration is much easier to fill in from a log than from memory.
At CIT, ask whether your chair uses the framework agreement, and keep a copy with your thesis files.
What the rule leaves open
We checked CIT only. Other TUM schools and individual chairs may have their own declarations, which we did not read.
