How we test and what we skip.

Human desk. Dated pricing and privacy. Failure modes on every card. Affiliate links disclosed when present.

Who writes this

VerdictPal is a side-built editorial project: a Swiss student desk, not a venture-backed roundup site or an automated “AI tools” crawl. We are few enough that every flagship card has a name behind it.

What “hands-on” means

Editorial · hands-on means someone on the desk used the tool for a real research task, lit review, brief, coding, citation work, and wrote down what broke. Dates on pricing and privacy are re-checked when policies change. See methodology for every evidence level.

What we do not do

  • No undisclosed affiliate links or pay-to-rank placements.
  • No scraped feature marketing copied from vendor sites.
  • No fake benchmark leaderboards or star ratings.
  • No “Top 10” listicles, one finite dossier per tool.

How cards enter the atlas

New dossiers scaffold through the content desk. We only promote a card to Solid or Flagship after personal trial and a fresh pricing/privacy pass. Synthesized or vendor-only sketches stay labeled until someone on the desk has used the tool.

Process, not geography. We care about dated checks, named testers, and honest failure modes, not where a directory farm happens to be headquartered. If we got something wrong, tell the desk.

Filter the atlas to hands-on or personally tested cards only.
