Purposes include account management, research mapping/visualization, citation and paper tracking, and Zotero-style integrations. Data types include name/contact, account/authentication, usage/activity, and user-submitted content such as saved papers, annotations, and metadata. Security includes TLS, encryption at rest where applicable, least-privilege access, auth controls, monitoring/logging, backups/recovery, secure cloud infrastructure, firewalls, RBAC, patching, and incident response. Termination supports delete or return unless law requires retention; backups may retain data briefly.
